In December of 2000, our eldest son Jakob was a typical two-year old; running, playing and making a mess. When he started complaining of a tummy ache and backache we just thought he had played too hard. It was after he collapsed, grasping his back and crying from the pain, that we realized this was no typical illness.
On Jakob's third birthday we received overwhelming news; he tested positive for leukemia! That evening doctors reported Jakob had Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. At that moment, Jakob's life changed. He had chemotherapy treatments daily for three and a half years, enduring many side effects and complications along the way. We witnessed changes in our child no human should have to endure.
Presently, Jakob is suffering from the many side effects of chemo therapy. To date, not a month goes by that he isn't sick with something. He is perceived by most as a typical child. People who meet Jakob are unaware he has Dysgraphia, Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy, Periodic Limb Movement Disorder or Celia Disease. When he is sick his illness goes beyond typical childhood colds and viruses. He is unable to just be a kid. This is a difficult concept for any child to comprehend.
Jakob is a trooper! It is his strength, determination, and courage that keeps our family going. His determination and God's inspiration is the foundation of TNK Jewelry.
Jakob is the red head on the right. Logan is on the left and Cambridge is in the middle.
